Your Advantages with label.co.uk

Water-Resistant Labels on Rolls - Individually Printed

Water resistant labels are usually printed on a material called polypropylene (PP). It is a polymeric material (sometimes called a “vinyl label“) that does not absorb water. This is how the resistant effect is created.

These water-resistant labels are needed, among other things, because of certain filling and logistics processes. These include, for example, bottle sterilisation or filling. These labels are also suitable for use in extreme environments or for protection against moisture.

Please note: Our labels are not designed to remain submerged under water for extended periods of time or to be used in a salty marineenvironment.

Water-Resistant Labels on Paper?

That’s possible. Have your paper labels coated with a protective varnish to make them water-resistant. The paper absorbs the varnish and is thus sealed. This reduces the likelihood of the label absorbing too much water. Many paper labels that are printed in full colour and have a protective coating can handle refrigeration and logistics processes well. This opens up many possibilities when it comes to material selection and label design of your water-resistant labels.

With a film lamination you give your paper labels additional water-resistance. However, please note that a matt film lamination over a textured paper would completely cover its structure. This can cause air entrapment between the textured paper and the lamination, creating unsightly air bubbles.

Polymeric materials such as polypropylene are generally more suitable for water-resistant labels. They withstand both wet filling processes and cold processes without additional sealing.

Water and Ink – How Does that Work?

We print all custom labels digitally using HP Indigo 6800 technology. This is a commercial grade printing technology using electro-inks; these will not run under any circumstance. Nor will inks scratch away from the surface of the label when subjected to logistics processes. Therefore, digital printing is particularly well suited for producing water-resistant labels.
