‘I like coming to work at label.co.uk every day, because I enjoy my job.’
Who are you?
Tell us a little about yourself
My name is Marion Koch and I’m 37 years old. I enjoy working in a team with a wide variety of characters and departments – it’s something new every day. As I like organising and coordinating, the job matches my interests and skills perfectly. I’m also not afraid to make decisions and try new things.

What has your professional
career been like so far?
After graduating from high school with a focus on business, I decided to train as a media designer for digital and print media, specialising in media design.
However, in order to develop personally, I decided to do further training as a media specialist alongside my job. After my first parental leave, when I got back to work, I was given the opportunity to turn customer complaints into something positive for the company. I documented and analysed our mistakes in order to further develop ourselves and our processes.
After a second period of parental leave, I joined the production management team and am currently mainly responsible for production planning and personnel deployment planning, as well as being available to Production for any queries and supporting our quality management team in difficult cases.
How Did Your Path Lead You to label.co.uk?
I started working as a media designer at the printing company Nilles in 2009 and was able to support label.co.uk from the very beginning. I ended up at what was then the printing company Nilles, straight after my final exam and just wanted to consolidate the technical basics of the profession that I had to learn in theory for the exam. I quickly realised that I felt much more comfortable in this field than in the world of designers. The idea of briefly getting a taste of print shop air has now turned into 15 years. I also had the opportunity to see how label.co.uk developed from an idea to a successful business. I got to contribute to the logo and follow every step of the company’s foundation ever since.

What is your role at label.co.uk and what does your typical day look like?
After a second period of parental leave, I joined the production management team. I plan customer orders on our machinery, determine the sequence of machine runs and, in consultation with customer service, ensure that delivery dates and special customer requests are met. I am always available to answer queries from production, make quality decisions or obtain the information required.
Thanks to my training as a media designer, I am familiar with the graphics programmes and can check our customers’ data for suitability for production and suggest alternative or more effective solutions if necessary. By working closely with the machine operators, I can best assess the feasibility and effect of an embellishment on the label.
What Is Special about Your Job?
The variety of tasks and the freedom to make decisions. Thanks to new technologies, I am constantly learning about new machines with their possibilities and challenges, and I am also allowed to make mistakes, which helps me grow.
Another special thing about my job is our team that always supports each other: For me, they are not just colleagues; many of them have become friends over the years.
… and label.co.uk as an Employer?
I enjoy coming to work every day. It doesn’t even feel like work to me. I enjoy the things I can do here.
We are a team of such different people who, together with their strengths and weaknesses, are driven to create something great, without individuals getting lost in all the hustle and bustle. Everyone gets the chance to realise their own potential and contribute their strengths. In recent years, we have been able to create an incredible sense of togetherness that helps us not to lose focus, build on our strengths and realise our goals.
‘With label.co.uk, I can balance my professional and private life with two children and a management position.’
What Has Been Your label.co.uk-Highlight so far?
There is no particular moment that I can name here. Basically, the trust put in me is the biggest highlight. I also appreciate the opportunities that are offered to me – whether it’s balancing work and private life with two children and a management position, or business trips that promote my personal development.
