What Goes on Your Chemical Label?
After Brexit, the EU classification, labelling and packaging regulations (CLP) had to be amended to apply to the UK and NI market. The result is the GB CLP. Herein, it says that where suppliers are under the impression that a chemical is potentially harmful, its product label must provide the corresponding information. There are specific symbols or pictograms that are used to indicate certain hazards on chemical labels. They are paired with written warnings, which are set out in law. Each supplier of chemical products must use these symbols and warnings to clearly identify hazardous properties. It is important to use the correct identification on your chemical labels. For example, there are two signal words to be used with hazardous substances: ‘Danger’ and ‘Warning’. The word ‘Danger’ is used in severely hazardous contexts, whereas ‘Warning’ is reserved for less hazardous instances.

Since June 1 2015, the ‘Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals’, GHS for short, has been in force. The GHS is an internationally agreed programme which was initiated by the United Nations. The GHS standards were created to replace the legislation in place in individual countries and to guarantee standardised identification of hazardous goods. All manufacturers, importers and suppliers of chemical compounds and substances must adhere to these standards.

We will also print the prescribed GHS pictograms according to the container capacities you determine in the correct minimum sizes.
